A dazzling essay book, in which the favoutite articles, that the author has written in different Moments, are collected. It's divided in three sections: in the first there are the pieces about obsessives and "minor geniuses", in the second the ones in the modes of organizing experience, in the third those regarding forecasts about people. The adventure stories embrace several topics, e.g. tennis players, shampoos, ketchup, airplane and shuttle crashes, mammograms, dog whisperers, job interviews, pitchmen, investment strategies, homelesses, art of failure, talent overestimation, late bloomers, criminals, troublemakers. And several theories are dealt with, ranging from connecting the dots to creeping determinism, from stereotype threat to risk homeostasis, from black swans to withitness through chocking versus panicking and so on. In the end it is a wise grouping of stories and concepts, which the writer has developed and deep dived in his other famous books.
